Here we are at the end of September and much has been happening since the last time I was here. First, one of our visitors deciphered the t-shirt. I sum 8 pi (I eat some pie). Great shirt for the match geeks among us.
So what has happened since then. When last I left you, White Olympics were underway. Well, Kumi's whip team, White Belle Star, won best ground specialty and the sportsmanship award. They did a great job. Here is Kumi and two of her teammates doing a pyramid.
Since Kira is in Tenderfoot this year we didn't do any white division parades, but Kumi did have one parade for Crimson rangers. Kumi ended up leading the Crimson rangers in the parade. The instructors were trying to pair up horses so they looked good going down the street. Kumi was the only flea-bitten gray so she moved to the front of the line.
She and B looked pretty good.
Tenderfoot graduation was at the end of August. Out of some 290 kids to start the previous August, we graduated 175. All during their tenderfoot year the kids acquire points. They earn points for attendence, grooming, participation and, of course, horsemanship. At the end of the year, the recognize the top 10 tenderfeet. Kira came in 5th place. She did a great job and we are very proud of her. Apparently that picture is still in the camera so I will have to upload that a little later.
School has started so everyone, except me, is once again getting up much earlier than they want. have had a couple of business trips since the school year started. That means the girls have been responsible for feeding the horses in the morning. Which means they have to get up even earlier. Which means they are mad at dad. Which means dad just smiles and says, "It builds character." Which makes them even madder.
